Upton Bell Sports Talk Show Host - Speaker

Upton Bell, son of former National football League Commissioner Bert Bell and Frances Upton (Zigfeld Follies Star), began his professional career in 1962 as the Personnel Director for the Baltimore Colts, working in sales, publicity, marketing and with the NFL draft. In 1971 he joined the New England Patriots as General Manager. He also owned the Charlotte Hornets with Arnold Palmer in the World Football League.

In the late seventies he hit the airwaves and began his 25-year career as a Talk Show Host in the broadcasting industry. He began as the co-host with Bob Lobel of WBZ radio in Boston, they analyzed the lives of rich and famous sports celebrities. Upton continued to host many sports related shows including sports Beat on WSBK-1V, Channel 38 Boston and Social & Sports commentary with Will McDonough of the Boston Globe on Channel 7.

In the late eighties Mr. Bell transitioned from sports to general talk radio. During the last few decades he has interviewed news makers, politicians, authors and celebrities. Highlights include former Presidents Bush and Clinton, Henry Kissinger, Senator Ted Kennedy, Geraldine Ferraro, Regis Philbin, Frank McCourt, Jay Leno, Dr. Joyce Brothers, Jackie Mason, Johnny Cochran and Alan Dershowitz.

For three consecutive years the Upton Bell Show has been recognized by The Associated Press for Outstanding Talk Show in New England. In December, 2001, Mr. Bell's family history is portrayed in an HBO special, "The Game of Their Lives" and his career featured in Boston Magazine.
